Event showcasing innovative cities opens in Barcelona

Smart City Expo World Congress, a global event on cities and smart urban solutions, has officially started its 11th edition today, gathering representatives of increasingly than 700 cities from the five continents in Barcelona, Spain.

The event, organized by Fira de Barcelona, will be held until 17th November at the Gran Via venue, and will be attended by high-level representatives from major cities such as Amsterdam, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Doha, Frankfurt, Kiev and New York, amongst others.

Over 400 experts are expected to take part in the Congress, including Elizabeth Diller, an technie who has studied how to shape behaviour through public urban space and is responsible for widely well-known projects such as the High Line in New York and The Shed, a non-profit cultural organization and venue in Hudson Yards, USA.

An exhibition space will host pavilions from countries including Austria, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Poland and Switzerland, as well as areas defended to the European Commission and the World Economic Forum’s stands.
